▶ US military fight against ISIL aims at Moscow – YouTube
The US military actions against ISIL terrorists actually aim at Russia
rather that the Takfiris, says a senior American activist.
“If
you look at the larger picture, you see that the entire area around
Russia is seeing the introduction of more military hardware, more
military personnel, and military activity,” Don DeBar told Press TV on
Tuesday, also citing the crisis in Ukraine.
The New York-base
radio host said sending US forces to battle ISIL in Iraq is an “amazing
thing given President Obama owes his election to the perception” that he
was against war in the country and said he would pull the troops out.
John
Allen, the US coordinator for the so-called US-led coalition against
ISIL, said earlier that the coalition aims to “take back Iraq” by
providing “major firepower” for an offensive by the Iraqi arm to take
back the ISIL-held city of Mosul.
A US Central Command official
also told CNN on Saturday that the US military was considering a
recommendation to Obama to send ground troops to help Iraqi soldiers
fight against the Takfiri terrorists holding parts of the country,
including the major city.
The US military actions in Iraq are
taken on the pretext of battling ISIL, “a creature of US allies, Saudi
Arabia, Qatar, and Israel with heavy US backing,” DeBar said.
This
is either a “repeat of the failed policy in Iraq”, which would worsen
the situation there, or is “an attempt to bring some sort of military
pressure on Russia”.
“Neither scenario promises a good outcome,”
noted the senior activist, calling reintroduction of troops to the
country a “bad news”.
Under the pretext that former Iraqi
dictator, Saddam Hussein, possessed weapons of mass destruction, the US
and its allies invaded Iraq in March 2003. In October 2004, however, a
CIA report revealed that Saddam Hussein did not possess any weapons of
mass destruction at the time of the invasion.
