I don’t want to spend much time focusing on the ongoing kerfuffle over President Obama’s patriotism and religion. I wasn’t going to write about it at all until a brief  Twitter conversation with Glen Reynolds and others.

This is not a winning issue for Republicans or Conservatives. Nevertheless, it does present an important reminder about the double standards of the biased media wing of the Democrats’ party.

For days the main stream media has been focused on attempting to demonize and discredit various potential Republican presidential candidates over Obama’s patriotism and religion. This began when Rudy Giuliani, at a dinner at the 21 Club in midtown Manhattan, said, “I do not believe that the president loves America.” A few days later, during an interview with the Washington Post, Gov. Scott Walker was asked the gotcha question about whether Obama was Christian. Walker gave an appropriate response saying, “I don’t know,” and explained that it is impossible for him to know whether or not Obama is a Christian.

I don’t remember the main stream media going after Hillary when Mark Penn, the top campaign strategist for Hilary’s campaign, advised her to portray Barack Obama as not being American enough.

We should also remember that 2008 presidential candidate Hillary was much less sincere than was Walker in addressing Obama’s religion:

“You don’t believe that Senator Obama’s a Muslim?” Kroft asked.

“Of course not. I mean, that’s, you know, there is no basis for that. You know, I take him on the basis of what he says. And, you know, there isn’t any reason to doubt that,” she answered.

“You said you’d take Senator Obama at his word that he’s not a Muslim. You don’t believe that he’s a Muslim?” Kroft said.

“No. No, there is nothing to base that on,” Clinton said, adding, “As far as I know.”

This is an issue that will not go away. I suggested, more than once that Obama should address his Muslim problem head on. He chose not to do that until six months after he became president.

I was wrong in believing that Obama addressing the issue would put an end to it. What are the odds it will be a problem for Democrat as well as Republican presidential candidates during the 2016 campaign?
