Yesterday, our alleged Secretary of State, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA)Heritage ActionScorecardSen. John Kerry0%Senate Democrat Average29See Full Scorecard0%, accused Israeli Prime Minister of doing something akin to cheerleading America into war with Iran. This is the kind of blood-libel-lite the left uses. Just as conservative Jews are accused of having “mixed loyalties,” Israeli officials who are trying to prevent their nation from being destroyed as part of a liberal Democrat undergraduate seminar in international relations regularly get accused of tying to involve America in wars. From the always slavishly stenographic TPM:

“Israel is safer today with the added time we have given and the stoppage of the advances in the nuclear program than they were before we got that agreement, which by the way the prime minister opposed,” Kerry said during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing. “He was wrong.”

Kerry was later asked to address Netanyahu’s criticism of a hypothetical deal with Iran as a threat to Israel.

“The prime minister was profoundly forward-leaning and outspoken about the importance of invading Iraq under George W. Bush,” Kerry replied. “We all know what happened with that decision.”

The secretary of state again pointed out that while Netanyahu opposed the interim deal reached with Iran in 2013, that accord froze the country’s nuclear program. He warned that the prime minister shouldn’t make another premature judgment about the nuclear talks going forward.

“We won’t take a backseat to anybody in our commitment to the state of Israel, but [Netanyahu] may have a judgment that just may not be correct here,” Kerry said.

There are two point to address here. First is the idea that the Obama administration’s conduct of nuclear negotiations with Iran has done anything but make the world a profoundly more dangerous place. The administration has willfully traded away to Iran the right to make a nuclear weapons for the utterly bull**** idea that a nuclear Iran would be happy with the United States and become a force for stability in the Middle East. You don’t have to have a Ph.D. in international relations to poke holes in that theory, but it was good enough for Obama (RedState has documented this pathetic history of wishful thinking substituting for policy).

The second point is much more a commentary of Sen. John Kerry (D-MA)Heritage ActionScorecardSen. John Kerry0%Senate Democrat Average29See Full Scorecard0%‘s lack of honor, character and integrity. When Benjamin Netanyahu supported the invasion of Iraq he was a private citizen. When Sen. John Kerry (D-MA)Heritage ActionScorecardSen. John Kerry0%Senate Democrat Average29See Full Scorecard0% supported the war he was a US Senator. Though Kerry has lied repeatedly over the years about his support saying that he did it in the interests of national unity. Even a bunch of leftwing tools like FactCheck.org has demolished this excuse:

But for Kerry to say he “opposed the president’s decision to go into Iraq” ignores the ample record that shows the Democrat agreed with Bush that Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and should be forcibly removed from power, and it ignores his vote that allowed Bush to do just that.

This great nation has been cursed with a series of secretaries of state who where inept, disloyal to the administration they professed to serve, and generally unable to make the stripey-pants folks at Foggy Bottom cease and desist in their hatred of Israel and America (seriously, no great nation has ever been so poorly served by its foreign policy establishment a the United States). Sen. John Kerry (D-MA)Heritage ActionScorecardSen. John Kerry0%Senate Democrat Average29See Full Scorecard0%, in addition to being unable to credibly represent the United States’s interests, is also a demonstrably unintelligent man and he is a reflexive liar. Not only did he lie about the outcome of the negotiating strategy he has led, he lied — by omission — about his own record and misrepresented than of Mr. Netanyahu.

That Kerry has enlisted in the Obama administration’s war on Benjamin Netanyahu, a man who understands the stakes of Iran’s nuclear program better than anyone at State, is simply shameful.
