NYPD Takes 'Precautionary Measures' Following Threat Against U.S. Shopping Malls | 22 Feb 2015 | The NYPD is on alert following a threat against the United States purportedly by Somalia's 'al-Qaida'-linked rebel group al-Shabab. A video released over the weekend urged Muslims to attack shopping malls in the U.S., Canada, Britain and other Western countries. Following the threat, the NYPD issued a statement saying they were aware of the video and have taken steps to ensure the safety of New Yorkers.
