(Before It's News)

COAST SALISH TERRITORY – More than 150 people have blocked the main Clark Drive entrance to Port Metro Vancouver.  The action is part of a Canada-wide effort to push for a national inquiry into more than 2,000 missing and murdered Aboriginal women.

Families of murdered and missing women were joined by Indigenous and community activists. The federal government continues to ignore calls for action on the crisis.

The goal of Shutdown Canada is to stop rail, ship and highway traffic today to impact the Canadian economy. Similar events are taking place in the Maritimes, Montreal and Toronto as well as in other communities.

Today's call for an inquiry comes one day before the 25th annual Valentine's Day Women's Memorial March for Murdered and Missing Women through the Downtown Eastside.
