Thousands of Iraqi army troops and security forces are pushing to
completely purge the northern city of Tirkit from the ISIL terrorists.
The
Iraqi army’s final offensive in Tikrit comes following a 10-day lull in
the fighting to let civilians flee the city. On Wednesday, Prime
Minister Haydar al-Abadi ordered the resumption of the battle against
the Takfiri terrorists who are still holding positions inside the city.
On Friday, the Iraqi army fired mortars on Tikrit general hospital said
to be the stronghold of the terrorists. Meanwhile, the head of security
committee in Salahuddin province said that up to 10,000 volunteers have
joined the popular forces in the province. According to the official,
they will be tasked with securing the areas liberated by the army.
