I’ve gone on the record before as saying that you shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. In my mind, I’ve always thought a liberal Republican was better than any Democrat in terms of who we got into Congress. I have staunchly opposed the agendas of Rep. Mitch McConnellSenate Republican AverageSee Full Scorecard67% in the House and Senate, but have been hesitant to say “Screw it, let’s get them out by whatever means necessary.”

I freely admit to you all now that I was wrong.

As my colleagues Bill, Jake, and Erick have stated repeatedly, it’s time to clean out leadership. Bill and Jake have, on the Front Page, called for the removal of Boehner as Speaker. Erick has this morning called for getting rid of Boehner and McConnell altogether. I find myself standing firmly on the side of replacing them both because of their complete and total inability to lead.

• The complete and total capitulation of the Department of Homeland Security funding battle, which not only would have had Democrats shutdown a completely useless bureaucratic nightmare, but give Republicans a major win in the fight against the Barack Obama’s completely unconstitutional executive amnesty.
• At a time when Democrats are on the run and trying to rally the troops ahead of 2016, GOP leadership decides to attack their own party members for opposing the aformentioned capitulation, having their attack dogs spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in ads attacking conservatives and praising the leadership’s victory.
• Calling themselves strategic masterminds when, in reality, they fight to run away each and every time an issue is raised.

These are not their only crimes against the conservative movement, but these are the most recent. At a time when Republican victory is all but assured in a multitude of ways, the Republican leadership, scared of its own shadow, has reneged on its pledges to oppose the president. True to form, they have hidden behind the court time and again to fix what they won’t, though the courts work slowly and the legislature has the ability to work fast enough to bring their bills to the president’s desk. Will he veto Republican bills? Absolutely. But then he is easily cast as the obstructive one, not the Republicans.

I was absolutely wrong before about supporting Republicans just because the alternative is a Democrat. There does need to be punishment at some point for actively working against not just conservatives, but against their very base. It is time for Republicans to do what they are elected to do and, if they don’t, they need to go.
