Israeli intel website Debkafile is reporting that unconfirmed rumors circulating out of Russia claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin died suddenly. No official announcement has been made in Moscow that Mr. Putin is dead. Debka claims a death announcement appeared briefly on Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s website early today….but disappeared 20 minutes later. The Russian President was scheduled to visit Kazakhstan yesterday for meetings with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko, but failed to arrive. An official in Kazakhstan told reporters that Mr. Putin had fallen ill. The 62-year-old Russian President also did not appear at an annual meeting of high-ranking officers from Russia’s Federal Security Service – the successor to the KGB. London newspapers are reporting that Mr. Putin has not been seen in public since March 6. A Kremlin spokesman dismissed the rumors.
