My wife and I went to see American Sniper back in February. All I can say is WOW. I’ve seen a lot of “war” movies. I can honestly say none of them affected me like this one did. The only one that comes close is Saving Private Ryan. The scene at the end of that one in the cemetery in France brings tears to my eyes every time I see it.
I’m sure they sensationalized some of it for the movies sake but even with all the fighting scenes in the movie I felt they did a great job of making the movie about more than just the fighting. It was about what it does to the men and women who are members of any of our Armed Forces when they have to do what needs to be done in order to win a battle or war.
Upon doing some reading about Chris Kyle, it was amazing to me how humble he was about what he did in defense of our country. He was, and always will be, a hero in my book.
