Are online Colleges and Universities are All a Big Scam?

I did a bit of research over the web and found out that three are hundreds of school which are operating globally and giving out degrees in different fields of education, now my question here are they all a big scam and offer Degrees that are fake or do they have any kind of value, Are they properly accredited and recognized locally or have any sort of recognition globally? Can we get a good job with these online universities and can we call ourselves a real graduate/ doctor after getting the bachelors or even PHD level degrees that are offered by these online universities?
Online universities are also claiming to offer an accredited life experience degree that is provided just on the basis of experience and there is no need to study anything. I actually like the idea and can presume the rationale behind it that one can learn through experiences and all but are theses degree really acceptable in the market is the question which concerns for me, Are they really accredited and recognized properly? If anyone here have done any course from online university then please guide me here. Waiting for your responses.
