SQUAMISH – Squamish Nation women from the Skwomesh Action group led 500 relatives, friends and community members opposed to a planned Liquified Natural Gas terminal through torrential rain into the town of Squamish today. The protest started at Nexen Beach on Howe Sound and ended in front of the Fortis BC Woodfire LNG office in downtown Squamish. The organizers called for solidarity in defending their territory and in sending a loud and clear message to the provincial government to drop its plans for the terminal, for fracking and for LNG tanker traffic in the coastal waters of Howe Sound.
