Interview Bio

Robert C. W. Reid

Robert Reid was born in Seattle Washington and raised in the Midlands in England. His mother is from the Lincolnshire area in England but Robert has really embraced his Scots/Irish side, his father hailing from Larne in Northern Ireland. The family moved back to the US in the late 70’s and have lived in Cincinnati ever since.

Soon after college Robert got into bagpiping by joining the Cincinnati Caledonian Pipes and Drums. He has served as Band President, Quarter Master, Business manager and is currently the Drum Major and a bagpiper. He is also an Honor Guard piper for the Clermont County Sheriff and Loveland Symmes Fire Department. Robert has been on the board for the Cincinnati Celtic festival and the Ohio Scottish Games and is currently the President of the Caledonian Society of Cincinnati. In addition, he owns and operates Celtic Corner with wife Louise, who is a Highland Dancer and Judge. By day, he is Purchasing Manager for a rapidly growing local company.

Outside of bagpiping, Robert enjoys working on his 1979 MGB and 1949 Ford rat rod. He can be found helping coach his 8yr old son in his various sports and supporting his 10yr old daughter with her Highland Dancing.

Louise L. Reid

Louise was born in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to the United States at a young age. After a few years in Chicago, her family settled in Cincinnati, Ohio where her mother opened a dance studio. Louise began to take Highland dancing at that time and competed successfully throughout North America and Scotland. She has competed in the World Championships at Cowal and had students qualify for the United States Inter-Regionals. She became a teacher in 1997 to continue to share her love of dancing and the Scottish culture.

In addition to highland dancing, Louise also enjoys other forms of dance including Ballet, Jazz, and Tap. She has taught courses in Scottish Highland and Tap dance at local Universities. Louise is co-owner of Celtic Corner where she works with her mother, Lenora Gilmour.

Louise is a member of the SOBHD Worldwide Panel of Adjudicators and a Fellow member of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing.
