Dominance Games…A compendium 5/5/15

When the decay takes hold and the game becomes one of survival scenes change and royalty and aspirations change and those valued more than ever are those who can rise up them and “us” and destroy.
The ages of chaos never really recede. The pies get smaller. The power gets skewed. The unchaste get recognized. Enemies are always at the gates. The ones who set agendas and sell out to the best bids are the royalties and mercenaries of choice. A bloodless empty world honors its mercenaries.
Worlds crumble. Civilization crumbles. There is no sustenance in being the good soldier….. he or she of values long dead and gone … long dead and gone values not worthy of respect.
Suckers do the hard work of being suckers not choosing a battle flag. Good passion only goes with the kill. Death on horseback with his holy sword rides well.
The disintegrating middle and the road warriors of legend.
Whence there was once a strong and vibrant middle class around to reflect upon and infuse society with the banalities of the bourgeoisie and the stabilities of the safe and secure and the passing appreciations for the good things on earth and the worlds that projected and protected them ….
The rosy lens of that once upon a time was set in a different milieu, in a world where a broad swath of all aspired to be thinkers and tinkers and aspired to take a critical look at the passing parade. The paradigm shift had not yet occurred. The battles and jungles that serve as the fine and mellow templates of societal norms had not yet been firmly established. Might had not yet made right. Dominance had not yet broken through as the word of the heart.
Poor society. The disintegrating middle and the road warriors of legend. All hail.
It is far easier to break the backs of those we own rather than try to do so to those who own us.
The poor and the dispossessed have no powerful constituency and therefor can be easily vilified and labelled as cheats and pikers, welfare abusers, scum who steal money from the public trough.
The wealthy, the gods, the connected own constituencies and can then steal and plunder without push back from all guardians of public morals. Might makes right and might corrals the standard bearers of public decency.
The poor and the dispossessed can make sublime canon fodder for those who make the conflicts, the weapons, the games, but they are there to be used as a resource ….. too many stop being poor and dispossessed, start having a stake in society and good canon fodder gets harder to find.

The devolution of common ground amongst the “communities” of nations …..
Our hatreds are, as always, much stronger than our ideals. Our ideals, if not totalitarian, speak to a rising march of civilization ever more towards a more “civilized” set of thinking and acting. The ideals of respect for life, liberty and the pursuits of happiness seemed, once, to be the way of the world.
Such is the presumption of the “evolved” man or woman. Greater degrees of education. more access to exchanges of ideas, more awareness of the self interests of rationality and power balance as ways to avoid slaughter; more openness to critical thought would serve as a ballast, an anchor.
Our hatreds are, as always, much stronger than our ideals. In “advanced” developed societies hatred is a fine de facto force of passion and power seeking. In”troubled” societies with order a dream and chaos a whirlwind hatred is a fine charger. It works well and demands no effort.
The devolution of common ground amongst the “communities” of nations holds that no stabilizing force of any stripe has ideals worth honoring. Hatred, always at home, loves all vacuums.
