“Hope” Artist says Americans Ignorant and Lazy; Pans Obama

(Before It's News)

Ahh yes, the misanthropy of the Left. It shines through so brightly sometimes.

Obama hopeThey want to help the people. But so often, what I hear is contempt. And if we really think about the agenda of the Left, it’s predicated on a kind of contempt – the notion that people really can’t be trusted to help themselves, to safeguard themselves, to think for themselves – even to tell what’s fattening and what’s not.

It doesn’t really take a village, in the Left’s view. It takes really smart liberals running the village to the tell the villagers what to do.

And so we have Mr. Shepard Fairey, creator of the iconic Obama Hope image, bending over and crapping on the hopeful. Because they have not lived up to the expectations of their helpers among the enlightened class.

You see, Mr. Fairey explains, “the entire system needs an overhaul,” and if Americans were not such ignoramuses, it might be happening, he told Esquire.

We also need a public that isn’t so uneducated and complacent. I hate to say Americans are ignorant and lazy, but a lot of them are ignorant and lazy . . .

But what frustrates me to no end are people who want to blame Obama or blame anything that is something that if they were actually doing anything as simple as voting, it might not be as bad as it is. There’s a lot of finger pointing and very little action and very little research into the dynamics that created the situation that they’re unhappy about.

Well, I’m always in favor of “researching the dynamics.” I don’t know what that means, but it sounds very scientific, and so I’m for it. But a little bit of research might have demonstrated to Mr. Fairey that Obama was in fact elected because people voted – because the Democratic vote churning machine so outdid that of the Republicans’.

But alas, Obama, whom Fairey elevated to Sainthood, was canonized too soon.

“Do you think Obama has lived up to your “Hope” poster?”

“Not even close.”

“How come?”

“Obama has had a really tough time, but there have been a lot of things that he’s compromised on that I never would have expected. I mean, drones and domestic spying are the last things I would have thought [he’d support]. I’ve met Obama a few times, and I think Obama’s a quality human being, but I think that he finds himself in a position where your actions are largely dictated by things out of your control. I’m not giving him a pass for not being more courageous, but I do think the entire system needs an overhaul and taking money out of politics would be a really good first step.”

Yes, let’s get money out of politics so Obama won’t fly drones. Or something.

Sure, Mr. Fairey is not perfectly coherent. But his visceral anger at average people echoes throughout liberaldom, straight to the top, where your success within the “system” is resented.

But what do you know? “You didn’t build that.”
