It is frustrating to hear reporters ask questions of candidates. Rather than asking the questions which the people need asked, and rather than listen so the politician can actually explain their answer, the reporters of today are more interested in creating NEWS with their questions. A recent example is the repeated questions of candidates “Knowing what we know today, was invading Iraq the right thing to do?” The obvious response should have been to ask back “what do we know today?” Yes, we know that things are horrible today, but we do not know, and will never know what things WOULD have been like if had done NOTHING or even something different. Asking retrospective questions or answering these questions serve no purpose other than showing how biased the media is. Their responsibility to be the voice of the people, to ask the questions we need, and to be serious in their coverage of the facts has I am afraid been lost. In the world of instant ratings, tweets, social media, etc. There is no economic value in being a responsible reporter, the glory comes from tripping up a candidate or maybe to embarrass the politician. Are they trying to show he is not genuine or not qualified? Other than general philosophies that explain core values and tendencies, decisions are made with actual facts and circumstances, not hypothetical and “what if's”. In closing, I hope the American people can attract more genuine candidates, which could attract more genuine reporters. In that world, as a people we could focus on solving the problems that need to be solved and work together to make the place better for everyone. Thank you
