Huff Post: Celebrate Mother’s Day With An Abortion
In a sickening piece for The Huffington Post, Kristine Holmgren writes to wish women a happy Mother’s Day by advocating for more abortions to put an end to “angry mothers.” She relates the story of a pregnant 13-year-old girl as justification for thinking that most mothers are “angry.”
If you were born before women had access to safe, affordable, accessible abortion, chances are your mother was an angry mother.
What a sad woman Holmgren must be to believe that most mothers before Roe v. Wade were angry because they weren’t able to have an abortion. Holmgren is fooling herself if she thinks that women who abort their children live happy lives and don’t suffer from physical or mental issues later. There is an overwhelming amount of data to prove a lot do.
Holmgren apparently believes the world to be such a horrible place that a child is better off being ripped limb from limb in the womb than being born and given up for adoption or kept by a mother who changes her mind.
And so it came to pass that an unwanted child brought an unwanted baby to a cold, cold world.
And another angry mother was spawned.
Perhaps Holmgren’s own anger at being born stems from something she says her own mother said to her.
So — I wasn’t (how shall I say this?) — planned.
Sometimes my mom called me her “baby.” Most of the time she called me, “her final mistake.”
What a wonderful mother she had to say such a thing to her child. And now Holmgren takes out her own unhappy childhood on everyone else, advocating that children be killed instead of being a “mistake.”
This Mothers Day, I challenge American women to renew their commitment to responsible, thoughtful motherhood.
Let’s protect our liberties, reclaim safe, accessible abortion and contraception as our birthright.
This year – let us commit to a new future and a new promise.
No more angry mothers.
So happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there who didn’t kill your children. Holmgren would be disappointed that you didn’t protect your liberties by having an abortion.
It seems to me that only one who is angry is Holmgren.
