Breaking: Mitch McConnell Promises Pro-Life Vote!
Fellow Conservative,
Perhaps we can chalk it up to a broken clock being right twice a day, but Mitch McConnell may actually come through on this one.
He has promised that the Senate will vote on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
This legislation would ban almost all abortions after 20-weeks, which is the point at which unborn children begin to feel pain.
If a surgeon is performing surgery on a 20-week old baby in the womb, he or she must administer anesthesia. Otherwise, the surgery would be unethical.
But right now, the law allows for unborn children between the ages of 20-24 weeks old to be aborted via dismemberment. It’s absolutely horrifying.
This legislation would end that while carving out specific exemptions for cases of rape and when the mother’s life is in danger.
Unfortunately, Mitch McConnell hasn’t scheduled a date yet. We need to get this bill passed as soon as possible!
We’re talking about just 1% of all abortions in this country. That’s the share of abortions performed after the 20th week of pregnancy.
There are about 1.06 million abortions in this country every year. So, 1% of that comes out to more than 10,000 babies.
That’s how many children are aborted after the 20th week, the point when the unborn start feeling painful stimuli.
On top of this, many medical experts believe that the point of viability has shifted to the 21st week. Children have been born alive at 21-weeks gestation and have grown to live normal lives.
Listen. Forty years ago, it would be unthinkable that children could be born alive at 21-weeks and survive. Sure, it may have happened. But doctors didn’t go into a premature birth believing that these barely-developed children could actually survive.
Today, it’s different. Children are born at 21, 21, and 23 weeks gestation and they go on to lead full lives. Yet right now, the law allows for these children to be killed in the womb for any reason whatsoever, even though they could be born alive and likely survive.
This is what we are fighting to prevent. The needless slaughtering of the unborn, especially when they could be born alive and given the chance to survive.
If there are 10,000 of these late-term abortions every year, that comes out to 27 every day.
And Mitch McConnell has the gall to say he doesn’t know when the vote will be?
Every day he squanders is 27 more lives lost. Since the House passed the bill more than a month ago, almost 1,000 viable and pain-capable children have been murdered.
This is why we need to act quickly. We simply cannot afford to wait any longer.
