Defend Democracy, March in the NH Rebellion on July 4th

In 1776, would you have left your spouse, children or parents to fend for themselves as you risked your life fighting for a concept against the biggest global empire of the day? Think what you may, but a much smaller percentage of us voted in the 2015 Rye town election, than represented Rye in the Continental Army. This apathy run amuck has trickled down from our Federal and State governments, and is a disgrace to the 37 Rye Patriots who never returned. Those Patriots fought and won our democratic freedoms, and countless veterans have served and sacrificed to maintain them.

This July 4th, you can honor those Patriots and Veterans, by marching. Not to Concord/Lexington, Bunker Hill or down to New York and Pennsylvania as so many NH Patriots did, but just from Hampton to Portsmouth as part of the NH Rebellion. The goal of the NH Rebellion is to help wake up our nation to the sad fact that our great Democracy is only effective for the infinitesimally small percentage of individuals, corporations, unions and others that pay for the campaigns that put their people in office. For the rest of us, we may vote, but our Federal government is much more responsive to campaign contributors than to voters.

Voters no longer have the influence, but we get the bills from the immense governmental dysfunction as massive volumes of money is invested in molding government to serve those who fill the campaign coffers. We all need to say, enough is enough and skip out on a few hours at the beach, cookout or other leisure, to march in the NH Rebellion. Go to www.nhrebellion.org to register for the Hampton or Rochester start and even if you can’t physically march, at least make the investment in democracy and join us at the conclusion at Portsmouth’s Prescott Park and learn what you should be doing.
