Ukraine Is In Crisis. Here’s Why the West Can’t Save It.

American officials want the world to believe that Ukrainians are locked in a battle for liberation from Putin, that Russian military activity in east Ukraine is part of a plan to recover Ukraine for the benefit of Russia, and that Europe and the United States are offering Ukrainians freedom, democracy, and a shot at life in a “free market.” They do not add, as Sommers does, that the Russians who inherited the collapsed Soviet Union also hoped Russia and the United States would become economic partners. They looked to the United States for help with development, but were disappointed. This unfortunate result is consistent with the policy of Carter-era national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, which states that the United States should treat any country that is economically self-sufficient as a military threat. Washington thus supported the anti-Russian Maidan movement in Kiev, Hudson says, in part to undermine and further isolate a Russia that, under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, had recovered both its self-sufficiency, its pride, and—in the US view—its obstinance.
American citizen tortured by Ukrainian government

As usual, Ukraine State Security head announced that the civil activist was working for DPR/LPR “terrorists”, Putin, and the gray aliens (because obviously, that’s the only reason anyone could want the Kiev regime to fulfill its promises), and was “deported and banned from the country”.Lucky man – thought we. US citizenship saved him from being detained for months without trial and being exchanged to the DPR for government soldiers.
Sure, Tashbaev is rabidly Russphobic, and says Poroshenko isn’t doing enough to “win the war”, but protesting in a fascist state takes guts. However, the story had an unexpected twist – Tashbaev came online today saying that he was not deported. He was detained by the police, passed to the custody of unknown masked men, and taken to the forest – to be beaten, tortured, and probably killed. It is unknown why they dumped him in the forest instead – maybe because Tashbaev’s lawyers started asking head of State Security about his whereabouts (Nalivaychenko answered that he is detained and giving evidence about his ties to terrorist organizations), or maybe they hoped he would not be able to make it out the forest in his state.Anyway, Tashbaev made it out. Here are the photos he posted of himself – taken after he walked two hours to nearest residential area.

AFU firing on Donetsk, Kuibyshevsky district. June 10, 2015
According to locals reporting to “Voice of Sevastopol”, gunfire intensified in Mariupol as of 22:40. Ukrainian security officials shelled Shirokino from their positions in the districts of Vostochny and Leningradsky and in Pionerskoye village.
Residents of Mariupol reported that the fire was conducted with heavy guns, possibly SPGs.
At 22:48 the fire died down.
Shelling resumed near Donetsk airport, a spokesman of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the cease-fire in Donbass reported.
“Right now (as of 19:30 – “Voice of Sevastopol” ed.) there is firing in the vicinity of the airport. It has been going on for about two hours. Now decreases a little, then resumes,” – the representative of JCCC said, adding that the fire is conducted with 120 mm mortars from the military unit.
