Salon is Super Upset at Jerry Seinfeld, Y’all

(Before It's News)

The social justice warriors of Salon Dot Com are really upset at Jerry Seinfeld for saying the same thing a liberal professor said over at The Federalist: The Politically Correct crowd ruins the entire atmosphere.

Speaking on ESPN Radio’s “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Thursday, Jerry Seinfeld weighed in on the issue of political correctness as it pertains to comedy. Asked by Cowherd if PC culture hurts comedy, Seinfeld responded definitively: “Yes, it does.”

He went on: “I don’t play colleges but I hear a lot of people tell me, ‘Don’t go near colleges, they’re so pc.’ I’ll give you an example: My daughter’s 14. My wife says to her, ‘Well, you know, in the next couple of years, I think maybe you’re going to want to hang around the city more on the weekends so you can see boys.’ You know, my daughter says, ‘That’s sexist.’ They just want to use these words. ‘That’s racist. That’s sexist. That’s prejudice.’ They don’t even know what they’re talking about.”

Let’s take a look at how Salon promotes this story. On Twitter, it was “Jerry Seinfeld refuses to play college campuses for the most condescending of reasons.” The headline of the story itself describes Seinfeld as “slamming” politically correct students. I guess to try to seem fair or something, they briefly mention that Christ Rock has essentially said the same thing in the past.

A couple of days last week, I talked about want politics was doing to comedy and vice versa, and this is just the continuation of that subject. The veterans out there, like Seinfeld and Rock, know what a trap it is to go perform at these venues. They don’t need the career risk of being portrayed as insensitive jerks toward the socially downtrodden. They can sell out performance halls with no problem, and so they don’t need to go to colleges, where the liberal atmosphere ruins good comedy.

The oversensitive wusses on college campuses these days have no clue what real racism or sexism is. The social justice movement has completely ruined those definitions. Seinfeld isn’t wrong about that. And if, as I’ve said before, comedy is inherently based in a level of maliciousness, then going to the places where these kids thrive – colleges across the nation – will probably just make them cry (and maybe make them cry as hard as Salon does every day).
