Barack Obama: Willful Patsy
Joanne Chesimard killed a New Jersey state trooper named Werner Foerster during a traffic stop. Though she received a life sentence, Chesimard fled to Cuba where she has been taking refuge from the American legal system ever since. She joined Charlie Hill who, in 1971, killed a state trooper in New Mexico then hijacked a plane to Cuba. These two cop killers join almost seventy other American murderers, bank robbers, and others sought by the FBI who have taken up residence in Cuba to avoid the American legal system.
When Barack Obama struck a deal with Cuba, Cuba got everything it wanted, but the United States did not get back a single felon.
Now we have struck a deal with Iran. Iran can become a nuclear power, but four Americans languishing in Iran cannot come home. For that matter, Iran, at the last minute, demanded an end to the arms embargo imposed on that nation. Barack Obama gave in. But he never asked that four Americans be returned.
For perspective, Barack Obama traded five members of the Taliban for one American traitor, but has patently refused to insist on multiple cop killers be returned from Cuba or multiple American citizens held on trumped up charges be returned from Iran.
Yesterday, President Obama lectured CBS’s Major Garrett for having the audacity to ask the President about those four Americans. The President said, in part,
Now, if the question is why we did not tie the negotiations to their release, think about the logic that that creates.
Suddenly Iran realizes, you know what? Maybe we can get additional concessions out of the Americans by holding these individuals. Makes it much more difficult for us to walk away if Iran somehow thinks that a nuclear deal is dependent in some fashion on the nuclear deal, and, by the way, if we had walked away from the nuclear deal, we’d still be pushing them just as hard to get these folks out. That’s why those issues are not connected, but we are working every single day to try to get them out and won’t stop until they are out and rejoined with their families.
Yes, let us look at President Obama’s logic. Iran got last minute concessions. It has been widely reported without dispute that Iran demanded an end to the arms embargo. Likewise, the President has changed federal policy and will now let families pay hostage takers for the release of their loved ones. Likewise, the President himself is willing to exchange five terrorists for one traitor.
And we’re really supposed to believe he is “pushing them just as hard to get” those Americans out of Iran? Really?
President Obama is a willful patsy. He is letting foreign powers play us, at our expense, and the expense of our justice system and our citizens. At some point you have to ask why the President is so willing to let the other team get away with so much.
