United Airlines Grounds Flights, Citing Computer Problems | 08 July 2015 | United Airlines grounded planes nationwide for nearly two hours on Wednesday morning because of what the company said was a computer problem. Blaming” network connectivity,” United's parent company, United Continental Holdings, ordered a ground stop to United and Continental flights, though by late morning its systems appeared to be coming back. United's chief executive, Jeff Smisek, said in an interview in New York that the network issue had prevented the airline from dispatching planes.
