(Before It's News)

By Hunter Wallace

The C of CC is saddened by the news that Vester Lee Flanagan, the shooter in Virginia who murdered two reporters yesterday on live television, explicitly said in his manifesto that he wanted to start a “race war” and that his actions were a retaliation for Dylann Roof’s massacre in Charleston, SC:

“In the 23-page document faxed to ABC News, the writer says “MY NAME IS BRYCE WILLIAMS” and his legal name is Vester Lee Flanagan II.” He writes what triggered today’s carnage was his reaction to the racism of the Charleston church shooting:

“Why did I do it? I put down a deposit for a gun on 6/19/15. The Church shooting in Charleston happened on 6/17/15…”

“What sent me over the top was the church shooting. And my hollow point bullets have the victims’ initials on them.”

It is unclear whose initials he is referring to. He continues, “As for Dylann Roof? You (deleted)! You want a race war (deleted)? BRING IT THEN YOU WHITE …(deleted)!!!” He said Jehovah spoke to him, telling him to act.

Later in the manifesto, the writer quotes the Virginia Tech mass killer, Seung Hui Cho, calls him “his boy,” and expresses admiration for the Columbine High School killers. “Also, I was influenced by Seung–Hui Cho. That’s my boy right there. He got NEARLY double the amount that Eric Harris and Dylann Klebold got…just sayin.’” …’

This is unquestionably an anti-White hate crime.

Vester Lee Flanagan reminds us of another black homosexual mass shooter, Floyd Lee Corkins, who in August 2012 attempted to murder everyone at the Family Research Council in Washington, DC. Inspired by the SPLC’s master list of “hate groups,” Corkins was incensed by their “anti-gay rhetoric” and intended to smear Chick-fil-A sandwiches in the blood of his dead victims and stuff them in their homophobic faces.

What groups inspired Vester Lee Flanagan? Where did this toxic rhetoric of victimization come from? Who did he like on Facebook and Twitter? Where did he post his grievances on the internet? Did he ever pose for photos with the Rainbow flag? Like that “all-American kid” Muhammad Abdualzeez in Chattanooga, we don’t expect the leftwing media, which demonized the C of CC and the Confederate flag, will show much interest in pursuing those questions. Instead, Vester Lee Flanagan will join Floyd Corkins, Christopher Dorner and Omar Thornton down the memory hole.

At the height of the mania over Charleston, when the leftwing media was rushing to conclusions and scapegoating the C of CC, I wrote an article called “A Deadly Cocktail: Self Expression, Fantasism, and Mental Illness”:

“In light of the successful prediction that I made after Gabrielle Giffords was shot in 2011, let me make another prediction: if history is our guide, by the time the American public has digested the Dylann Roof shooting in Charleston, yet another rampage shooting starring a different character with different motives will have seized national headlines. In hindsight, it is amazing how quickly the public loses interest in even the worst atrocities, as there is always another self-detonating fantasist out there ready to tee up the next dish of carnage.

And you know what? Next time there is a rampage shooting, and the next time after that, and the next time after that … and talking heads wonder aloud about the “root causes” of “the sickness in America,” the same deadly cocktail of expressive individualism, fantasy ideology, and mental illness will rear its ugly head. When the next self righteous narcissist walks down the catwalk of the 24/7 cable news media, only the details will be different.

Oh, and that Confederate flag … that’s just a small, irrelevant detail.”

I was right … the Confederate flag really was a small, irrelevant detail.

In fact, Vester Lee Flanagan was such a self righteous narcissist and morbid fantasist that he felt compelled to one up his competition by shooting a video of his massacre, carrying out his act on live television, and then uploading his video to Facebook and YouTube. Like his predecessors, he also had a manifesto which he faxed to ABC News. He wanted everyone in the world to know that he had studied the Columbine killers and that Seung-Hui Cho was his “boy.” As I pointed out after Charleston, all these killers fit the same basic profile.

In hindsight, Dylann Roof was a mentally ill white supremacist who shot up a church, Muhammad Abdulazeez was a mentally ill jihadist who attacked a US Army recruiting center, Rusty Houser was a mentally ill drifter who shot up a movie theater, Vincente Montano was a paranoid schizophrenic who attacked people in a movie theater with a hatchet and opened fire on police with a pellet gun, and now Vester Lee Flanagan was yet another mentally disturbed nut who wanted to act out a morbid fantasy in the 24/7 cable news media. For good measure, we can go further back and say with confidence that Ismaaiyl Brinsley was a mentally ill fanatic who “put wings on pigs” and Andreas Lubitz was a mentally ill man who crashed the Germanwings plane into the French Alps in March.

Will the leftwing media finally admit they were wrong? Nope, they will submerge this story faster than the submarine Red October, and when they come back up this tragedy will be yesterday’s news.
