Syrian Army, Hezbollah Marching on Rebel Positions inside Madaya Town
Military sources said that the Syrian Army and the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement have seized full control over various neighborhoods and districts of Madaya town, in the Southern direction of Zabadani.
The sources said that two days after liberating operation of Madaya, the Syrian army and Hezbollah fighters started their mop-up operation inside the town.
The sources added that the Syrian army’s 63rd Brigade, Hezbollah, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and the National Defense Forces (NDF) stormed the positions of al-Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham in Southwest Madaya, and retook control over vast areas near Al-Kazbari Mosque.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance retake full control over the Al-Kazbari Mosque’s surrounding building blocks, while the Syrian warplanes unleashed a fury of powerful airstrikes inside the rebel-controlled areas of Madaya.
The Syrian army and Hezbollah are advancing in the Northern, Western and Southern directions of Madaya town.
However, the Syrian Air Force did not stop there: on Sunday, the latter conducted over 80 airstrikes in Madaya and Al-Zabadani, destroying a number of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s military sites and killing a multitude of militants there.
Eight members of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham turned themselves-in to the Syrian security forces on Sunday after the short-lived ceasefire allowed for the opposing parties in Zabadani to correspond with one another, despite the two-month-long siege that pinned them both against one another in a fierce battle for control of the city.
Currently, the Syrian army and Hezbollah control 85 percent of Zabadani and nearly 25 percent of Madaya; if captured, the resistance forces would eradicate one of the biggest threats on the border of Lebanon.
Iraq Rejects Presence of US Troops in Anbar Province
Iraqi Counterterrorism Forces categorically dismissed the news reports about presence of the US troops in Al-Anbar province.
“The news reports on the presence of the US troops in the military operations in Anbar province to help Iraq take the province from the ISIL’s control are not true,” the Arabic-language al-Sumrya news website quoted Commander of Iraqi Counterterrorism Forces Brigadier General Abdol Ghani al-Assadi as saying on Monday.
He reiterated that Iraq does not need any foreign forces to fight the ISIL and it enjoys the needed capability and capacity to defeat the terrorist group.
On Sunday, the Iraqi army started fresh military operations to take control of a strategic region in al-Anbar province, and killed tens of ISIL Takfiri terrorists in fierce clashes.
The army backed by warplanes are advancing in Anbar province towards al-Khalediya region which is currently under the control of the ISIL terrorists.
The Iraqi officials announced that at least 45 Takfiri terrorists have been killed and their strongholds have been destroyed in the Iraqi army raid.
On Wednesday, Iraqi forces and volunteers reportedly retook the key Jubbah region in Iraq’s Western Anbar province, driving out the ISIL Takfiri militants which had previously held it.
“Joint forces managed to free the Jubbah Region in the Heet District,” an informed source said.
This came as part of operation aimed to re-take the city of Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, which was seized by ISIL back in May.
The ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently control shrinking swathes of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Ezadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.
Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.
The ISIL has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Destroys Al Nusra Front’s Hideouts
The Syrian army destroyed the hideouts and the strongholds of the Takfiri terrorists in the Lattakia province, killing tens of militants.
A large number of Al Nusra Front terrorists were killed in army’s raid in the town of Rabe’a in the Northern countryside of Lattakia.
Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more injured in the Syrian army raid on their positions in Lattakia.
Also in the past 24 hours, a prominent Arab political analyst underlined that the battle over the Strategic town of Zabadani is very important for all warring sides.
“Winning back Zabadani can play a crucial role in resolving the Syrian crisis,” Nasser Qandil told FNA.
He noted that the developments underway in Zabadani are paving the way for the Syrian army’s control over all the Zabadani region.
“Zabadani is of highly strategic importance because it links the areas controlled by the militants in the city and countryside of Damascus,” Qandil said.
Meantime, the violation of the ceasefire in the countryside of Damascus and Idlib province has been orchestrated by the Turkish government, media reports said.
Ahrar al-Sham terrorist group has received orders from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to violate the ceasefire between the government and the militants in the town of Zabadani in Damascus countryside and two Shiite villages of Fuaa and Kafraya in Idlib province, the Arabic-language Al-Watan newspaper reported.
“One of the reasons that the ceasefire was violated was because Ahrar al-Sham called for complete withdrawal of the Syrian troops from the villages of Kafraya and Fuaa in Idlib,” Al-Watan quoted Secretary General of the Syrian Solidarity Party Mohammad Abolqassem as saying.
Elsewhere, military sources in the Southern battlefields said that the Syrian Army’s operations against the strongholds of the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front in Dara’a province resulted in the killing of over 10 militants.
The sources said that the Syrian army killed 10 terrorists of al-Nusra Front and destroyed their weapons and ammunition depot in Bosra al-Sham town in the Eastern parts of Dara’a province.
Military sources in Aleppo said that the Syrian Armed Forces defended the Kuweires airbase against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists’ fresh massive offensive and killed more than 40 of them in their joint counter-assault operation.
The sources said that the ISIL terrorist group launched another powerful assault at the Kuweires Military Airport’s Southern perimeter from their positions at the town of Tal Al-Ahmar; however, unlike their previous attacks, this one was not led by a suicide bomber.
In the meantime, another contingent from the terrorist group began their own assault at the Eastern gates of this besieged base.
The firefights were very intense between the Syrian Armed Forces and the ISIL, but the prevalence of airstrikes from the Syrian Air Force helped deter the terrorist group’s advance, giving the ground forces protecting the base an added boost.
According to a military source in Aleppo, over 40 ISIL combatants were killed and 7 armored vehicles were reportedly destroyed during the failed infiltration attempt at the Kuweires airbase.
