▶ Syriza anti-bailout lawmakers force Greek PM to consider confidence vote – YouTube
The Greek prime minister is facing an uphill task amid widening division in his ruling Syriza party. Now, the socialist Pasok party has joined the main opposition in saying that it won’t back Alexis Tsipras if he calls a vote of confidence. Tsipras had to rely on opposition groups to win a parliamentary majority last week in favor of the 86 billion euro bailout. But he suffered the biggest setback due to a rebellion by anti-bailout lawmakers in his party, forcing him to consider a vote of confidence. Some lawmakers blamed Tsipras for forcing the country to another bailout and reform conditions. Pasok and other opposition groups say while they backed the government’s bailout bid, they wouldn’t support any confidence motion in the coming weeks. A loss of vote by Tsipras would pave the way for early elections.
