WE GET THE GOVERNMENT WE DESERVE!

Arguably, the single biggest problem that America faces at this point in her history has become our complacency.

Previous generations of Americans knew what real suffering was, because they experienced it.

As a result, they didn’t have an “entitlement” mindset, and they worked themselves to the bone.

Much of the unparalleled economic might of the United States that my generation (Generation X) and Millennials grew up under was due in large part to the hard work of the “Greatest Generation.”  I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the might of America anyone under 40 has never experienced any other way, was literally built off the backs of those great men and women.

They handed down an economic powerhouse to my generation, all while so many of them fought and died in World War II against the horrors of the German Third Reich. We owe so much to that generation of great Americans.

At times like this I am reminded of a scene from the first 3 minutes of the first episode of HBO’s big hit titled, “The Newsroom.” In the clip, Jeff Daniels character is asked why he thinks America is the greatest country on the planet. After some poking and prodding from the moderator, reluctantly the character explodes into a tirade about why America is no longer the best country in the world. Its sad, but his speech is DEAD on.

In a time of such importance to our nation’s very survival, I am deeply saddened by the growing number of Americans who have devolved into headline readers and sound bite seekers. People blame their busy lives on why they quickly scroll down a Facebook News Feed, and only read headlines, and then have the nerve to “think” they have a clue about what is within the articles, or what is REALLY happening in the world.

Yesterday, I posted an article that I think was one of my best ever, for those that took the time to get past the headline. For the next 8 hours I thought my email was going to meltdown with all the comments that came pouring in. If I had to guess, I’d say 2/3 were full of hate and from people BLASTING me who didn’t even read the post. Eventually I changed the title. I felt the messsage within was more important than making a stand against the PC police.

The title of that post was not “politically correct,” so people lit me the hell up without even reading it. I’m not talking about liberals. In every conservative social media outlet in which I engage REGULARLY, and people should clearly know better, I was shredded yesterday. Who does that? Who uses every ounce of foul language and personal attacks against the author of an article they haven’t even taken 5 minutes to read? The other 1/3 of the emails were either from praising me who actually DID read it, or people apologizing for BLASTING me before they read it. Either way, I had a long miserable day yesterday.

I do my level best to bring information to people that the mainstream media simply will NOT report. Period. When my “alleged” closest political allies in all my favorite groups across various social media platforms overwhelmed my inbox yesterday with hate mail, based on a post they never even read, it was a long day trying to do damage control. At the end of the tirade in the video, Jeff Daniels’s character tried to back peddle, and he says:

It sure used to be. We stood up for what was right. We fought for moral reasons. We passed laws, struck down laws for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbors, we put our money where our mouths were and we never beat our chests.

We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, explored the universe, cured diseases, and cultivated the world’s greatest artists and the world’s greatest economy. We reached for the stars, acted like men, we aspired to intelligence, we didn’t belittle it, it didn’t make us feel inferior.

We didn’t identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election and we didn’t scare so easy. We were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed, by great men, men who were revered. First step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one. America is not the greatest country in the world anymore. Enough?”

I want to point out the second to last line. “We were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were INFORMED, by great men, men who were revered.” THAT ladies and gentleman, sums up the sorry state of this country.

Headline readers and sound bite seekers are NOT informed people. Frankly, they are the most ignorant among us. Sadly, the problem is systemic, and has no problems crossing party lines. As I mentioned, I learned that lesson the hard way yesterday. This is when most people retreat and back down. I’m sorry. I won’t be that guy.

I am a HUGE fan of Dr. Carson, and in the video below he sums up what yesterday was like for me dealing with the “PC Police” all day.

  • lol, how much misunderstood flattering can you throw the previous generation? They were mindless idiots who killed the other countries people, without a thought going through their head except the propaganda they were fed. They let atomic bombs be built, and USED on Japan. They let banks control everything from their education to their house, and that hasn’t changed in many, many years. Do not try to right off the current generation, as they are the ones who are also bringing out the problems of government, after over a century of coverups and behind the scene deals.

The previous generation only had work ethic, they did not have the brains to stop them, just like the masses of today. Except we have far more people even still, fighting back. Not to say we are a good generation, but it’s disgusting to just put the previous generations responsible for this whole mess on high horses. They fought and died in wars? So what? If they were half the generation you think they are, there wouldn’t have been governments telling them what to do.

Until the day all people are living free, and understanding each other, there won’t be a single generation, a wise person can consider good.

  • so you use a movie clip as actual factual information? lol do one dafty.
