Urgent: Democrats Want to Double the Gas Tax!

Gas prices are going down. Over the past few days, the price of oil dipped below $45/barrel, which hasn’t happened since March.
You know what that means… Democrats are making another push to double the gasoline tax!
God forbid the American people are able to afford filling up.
Here’s the thing: Republicans have introduced legislation to fund highway and infrastructure projects without raising taxes. But that doesn’t do it for the Democrats. They’ve never met a government program they wouldn’t raise taxes to fund.
So instead of paying 18.4¢ a gallon in Federal taxes, Democrats are making a push to double that and force Americans to pay 34¢ a gallon! Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) is collecting co-sponsors for the TRAFFIC Relief Act. If this sounds familiar, it should. Sen. Carper introduced the legislation last year as well. Isn’t it great how politicians hide the worst provisions within legislation that has such a great name?
The only difference between last year and this is that the Highway Trust Fund is now bankrupt and Democrats have the leverage.
Wow. Thirty cents a gallon of just tax… and that’s just at the Federal level. We know that when the Federal government increases the gas tax, States and Local Governments usually follow suit.
Just say no! Don’t let Democrats raise the gas tax and take more out of your pockets!
On average, State and Local taxes also add 30.5¢ a gallon to the price. So it is not hard to imagine a world where you’re paying $1 to the government every time you add a gallon of gas to the tank.
This is unsustainable.
In 2011 alone, 9.2 billion tons of freight was moved across this country by truck. For those keeping score at home, that represents 67% of ALL freight tonnage transported domestically.
What do you think happens to the prices of these goods if Democrats make it more expensive to ship them? The prices will go through the roof.
Our Highway Trust Fund is completely out of money. The House and Senate passed a temporary funding bill, but both parties understand that we need to find a long-term solution to our infrastructure problems. Republicans are committed to finding the money in other government programs. But that’s a no-go for Democrats. The Left has never found a tax they didn’t like.
Now, remember, this is coming after President Obama lifted the ban on new tolls on Federal highways.
Imagine a world where every major interstate highway has a toll on it and, on top of that, you are forced to pay more out of pocket to fill up your gas tank…
This will be the reality if the Democrats and RINOs get their way!
Can you afford to pay more every time you go to fill up your tank? That’s the question you need to ask yourself because if the answer is no, then you MUST force your representatives to abandon this foolish gasoline tax increase!
If you drive a compact car, you can expect to pay $2.00 more every time you fill up your gas tank…
Drive an SUV? Good luck! You’ll be paying around $3.50 extra every time you fill-er-up…
And if you drive a truck, you’ll likely pay closer to $4.00 more every time you visit a gas station…
That is just for personal vehicles! What do you think will happen when these taxes are passed on to the trucking industry? What do you think will happen to the price of groceries, electronics, clothes, or any of the other 67% of products transported across country by truck?
At every level, this new tax is a horrible idea. And yet, Congressional Democrats and RINOs are eager to make it more expensive to for you to travel and for the goods you buy to make it to market!
These career politicians don’t know what it means to buy their own food and drive themselves to work. But if they pass this new tax into law, we must promise them that we will vote them out so they can learn what it is like to live under their oppressive taxes!
