Former Fukushima Worker Sues TEPCO Over Cancer | 01 Sept 2015 | A 57-year-old man is suing the Tokyo Electric Power alleging that he developed cancer as a result of exposure to radiation at the Fukushima nuclear reactor in 2011. The lawsuit, which was filed in the District Court of Sapporo, is seeking about half a million dollars in damages from TEPCO and Taisei Corp., one of the contractors hired by the utility to [pretend to] deal with the nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant. The lawsuit is the first to allege a direct causal link between the nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima reactors and cancer.
