Glamorous Pedophilia? Not quite…

Now folks, I’m the first one to rage against pedophiles and molestors. Don’t get me wrong. But the boy was 15. He was probably as big as the woman was in this case so I’m pretty sure she wasn’t leading him astray. How can I say that? I lost my own virginity at 15. Trust me, I doubt arm-twisting was involved. And I was hardly a “child” at 15…for crying out loud, I was shaving by that age. So calling this situation a case of “sex with a child” is a little far-fetched if you ask me…almost to the point of being downright humorous.
Does that make it right, well certainly not and I’m not advocating for this teacher’s innocence. Were I the kid’s parents, I’ve have gone postal on her. But also having said that, I don’t really put her in the same category as child molestors either…and I’m not even sure I’d categorize her as an actual pedophile either. The judge in this case made the proper decision. He looked at the two people involved and realized there really wasn’t that much of an improper activity taking place. It was criminal and it was wrong…but it wasn’t child molestation. So he cut her slack.
The problem here, as is usual, is that the mouthy mouths of the media don’t ever seem to want to look at details when they are pushing their own agendas. There’s a serious…a monumental…difference between an adult doing something with a teenager and an adult doing something with a preteen…and in every situation, judges and juries should be aware of this and act accordingly. Was the “victim” coerced or forced or were they old enough to be actually “making the initial moves”…and furthermore did they have the intelligence and decision making capacity to say, “no?”
Again, I’m not saying this woman is right. I am saying I don’t classify her as a pedophile based on this. And quite honestly, having once been 15, I’d have probably been following her around myself. Sadly none of my teachers ever looked this good. Then again, maybe that was a good thing in hindsight.
My point, is the right-side is going a little stupid with this “mainstreaming pedophilia” thing. There is plenty of fodder out there to support your claims…so put some effort in it, Infowars.com, and stop stretching with crap like this. It’s really starting to seem like you’re using left-wing tactics on the right…mountains out of mole hills and such.
In the end folks, be careful what you read and believe. Read the details…check the facts. Pundits and morons live on both sides of the aisle.
