When a power seems to slip away from any corrupt regime, the default solution to regain power is to seek an internal or external threat. This threat is often fictitious, but if it successfully sold to the unconscious minds of the dumbed how people, the goal of regaining and even expanding power is usually achieved. For all intents and purposes, Russia is the main enemy of Ukraine in the new military doctrine approved today by this country, its leader, Petro Poroshenko, posed as priorities the recovery of “occupied territories” and to request NATO membership. “The new military doctrine (…) defines Russia as a military adversary of Ukraine,” reads the document released today by the Council of Defense and the Ukrainian National Security Office. In addition, the document highlights the “highly probable use of large-scale military force against Ukraine as the main threat to national security.” As a result, Ukraine will strengthen its military presence in the eastern and southern regions of the country, according to the Ukrainian president, Petro Poroshenko. All the threats and challenges facing the Ukrainian militarily “are unfortunately linked to Russia and all of them have, unfortunately also (…) a lasting nature,” Poroshenko said. The puppet government of Ukraine, who arrive to power after the coup d’etat against elected president Viktor Yanukovych, accused Russia of “destroying the European and global security by annexing Crimea and unleash an armed conflict” in the east. “The brazen Russian aggression is a threat not only to Ukraine but to the entire civilized world, its security and stability,” he said. Poroshenko has learned very well from his masters in Europe and North America. His rhetoric resembles that of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, David Cameron or Tony Blair, who all “warned us” about so-called imminent threats that lurked in the dark and how the western world needed to deal with them before they caused great harm. In turn, the Poroshenko doctrine “reaffirms the rejection of the politics of blocks and calls for the resumption of the strategic course towards a Euro-Atlantic integration”, with NATO. In this regard, Poroshenko stressed that Ukraine must standardized its armed forces according to the rules of all NATO member countries by 2020. The document also cites a number of necessary steps to strengthen the defensive potential and restore the territorial integrity of the country, referring to the Crimea and how it was supposedly annexed by Russia in March 2014. Poroshenko also called for new measures to deal with those “pro-Russian rebel regions” of Donetsk and Lughansk. Moreover, Ukraine today extended sanctions against Russian natural and legal persons involved in “terrorist activities and violations of international law by undermining the territorial integrity of the country.” Russia, which is accused by Poroshenko of deploying thousands of troops in support of the separatist militias of Donetsk and Lugansk, denies its involvement in the conflict and accused Kiev of violating the Minsk peace agreements to which it agreed last February. According to Moscow, Kiev refuses to dialogue with representatives of the eastern regions. With respect to Crimea, Russian President Vladimir Putin reminded Poroshenko that the Crimean had spoken in favor of reintegration to the Russian Federation through a referendum, after having been a part of Ukraine since 1954.
