Houthis Continue to Hit Southern Saudi Arabia Despite Coalition Operations
Yemeni Forces Seize More Saudi Territories, Kill Soldiers
The Yemeni army and the Popular Committees gained control of several areas in the city of Al-Khubah in the Saudi province of Jizan.
The Yemeni forces seized several areas in Al-Khubah city, including Qamar, Al-Dhahira and West of Dar Al-Nasr towns, killing and injuring scores of Saudi troops on Sunday. Nine Saudi vehicles were also destroyed.
Also on Sunday,
Yemeni forces killed at least three Saudi soldiers with sniper fire and destroyed a Saudi tank along with two military vehicles in Jizan.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry has confirmed the deaths of two government troops in a Yemeni cross border attack on the Southwestern Najran region.
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 180 days now to restore power to Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 6,106 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.
Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.
Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
Yemeni Forces Win Back Strategic Regions in Southern Saudi Arabia
The Yemeni army and popular forces took control of strategic regions in the province of Jizan in Southern Saudi Arabia, the defense ministry in Sana’a announced on Monday.
The Yemeni forces seized back several strategic villages in al-Khoba region of Jizan province, Yemen’s defense ministry said in its statement.
The Yemeni forces had earlier taken control of several strategic areas in Al-Khoba region, including Wadi al-Jarreh military base and several other military bases.
On Saturday, the Yemeni forces managed to hit a Saudi military base in Saudi Arabia’s Southwestern province of Asir, taking several soldiers captive.
In a video released by Yemen’s al-Masirah television network, the Yemeni forces are seen engaging the Saudi soldiers in the region, destroying their vehicles.

Sources: Dubai Ruler’s Son Killed in Yemenis’ Attack in Ma’rib
Son of the Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, has been killed in the Yemeni revolutionary forces’ attack in Ma’rib province, informed sources announced, rejecting claims that Sheikh Rashid has died of heart attack.
”Sheikh Rashid and a number of other UAE forces were killed in a Yemeni forces’ Katyusha attack in Ma’rib province and reports on his death as a result of a heart attack are only aimed at deceiving the Emirati people who are demanding withdrawal of the UAE troops from Yemen,” the Yemeni Press quoted informed sources as saying on Sunday.
The UAE news websites had claimed that Sheikh Rashid had died of a heart attack.
The Arab-language al-Ain news website, meantime, quoted people close to Ansarullah as confirming that Sheikh Rashid has been killed in Ma’rib.
Sheikh Rashid was the eldest son of Sheikh Mohammed. Rashid’s brother Sheikh Hamdan is the Crown Prince of Dubai.
Yemenis rally in Sana’a against Saudi aggression
Ansarullah: Talks Underway in Oman to Halt Saudi Attacks on Yemen
A senior Ansarullah leader announced that negotiations on halting the Saudi aggression against Yemen are proceeding in Oman.
“The talks are currently underway in Muscat to halt the Saudi attacks on our country (Yemen),” Hamza al-Houthi, member of Ansarullah’s political bureau, told FNA on Monday.
Al-Houthi also said that the talks in Oman will also include resumption of consultations and negotiations between the warring sides in Yemen.
On Sunday, Oman’s Foreign Ministry announced that six foreign captives, including two Americans, three Saudis and a British citizen, were released by Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters.
The hostages, held for months by the Yemeni fighters, were released yesterday and later flown from the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, to neighboring Oman.
Oman’s Foreign Ministry, which helped negotiate their release, said in a statement that the hostages were released following mediation efforts by the country’s diplomats acting on behalf of Oman’s ruler Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The two Americans were identified as Scott Darden, an employee of a logistics company, and security consultant Sam Farran.
They were arrested along with a British national in the early days of Saudi Arabia’s military aggression against Yemen in late March. Their release appears to be a goodwill gesture by the Ansarullah ahead of UN-brokered peace talks later this week.

No Joke! Saudi Arabia Chosen to Head UN Human Rights Panel
NGO slams appointment of Saudi Arabia to chair UNHR panel
‘Not’ Monday Humor: Saudi Arabia Chosen To Head UN Human Rights Panel | Zero Hedge
If you were trying to put together a global all-star team of the most authoritarian, human rights abusing nations on earth, not only would Saudi Arabia be at the top of the list, it would be captain of the squad.
In a move as embarrassing, laughable and tragic as Barack Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize just as he was about to embark upon several overseas wars and drone countless civilians to death without due process, the United Nations has, remarkably, named Saudi Arabia head of it’s human rights panel.
Of course, this is something I warned of back in May in the post, Saudi Arabia is Making a Play to Head the U.N. Human Rights Council. Here are a few excerpts:
Saudi Arabia is making a bid to head the United Nations’ Human Rights Council (HRC) just days after it posted a slew of new job openings for executioners who would help carry out beheadings amid a massive uptick in state-sanctioned killings in the country.
U.N. Watch, a nonprofit group that monitors the international body, disclosed Saudi Arabia’s intentions in a recent report and urged the United States to fight against it, describing the move as “the final nail in the coffin for the credibility” of the HRC.
Neuer compared the possible ascension of Saudi Arabia to the top slot to electing “a pyromaniac as the town fire chief.”
All hail the pyromaniac in chief. From the Independent:
The United Nations has been criticised for handing Saudi Arabia a key human rights role – despite the country having “arguably the worst record in the world” on freedoms for women, minorities and dissidents.
Critics, including the wife of imprisoned pro-democracy blogger Raif Badawi – sentenced to 1,000 lashes for blogging about free speech – labelled the appointment “scandalous”, saying it meant “oil trumps human rights”.
UN Watch, an independent campaigning NGO, revealed Mr Trad, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador at the UN in Geneva, was elected as chair of a panel of independent experts on the UN Human Rights Council.
As head of a five-strong group of diplomats, the influential role would give Mr Trad the power to select applicants from around the world for scores of expert roles in countries where the UN has a mandate on human rights.
Such experts are often described as the ‘crown jewels’ of the HRC, according to UN Watch, which has obtained official UN documents, dated 17 September, confirming the appointment.
The Saudis’ bid emerged shortly after it posted a job advertisement for eight new executioners, to cope with what Amnesty International branded a “macabre spike” in the use of capital punishment, including beheadings, this year.
“Saudi Arabia has arguably the worst record in the world when it comes to religious freedom and women’s rights, and continues to imprison the innocent blogger Raif Badawi,” he said.
Of course, the Saudis seem to get away with everything
