The following recent article appeared which somehow sought to make Carson’s comments seem wrong. How, I don’t know. I find his comments perfectly acceptable and damned well dead on the money right! Read and see for yourself. Original story here: http://www.examiner.com/article/ben-carson-more-devastating-than-a-bullet-riddled-body-is-losing-gun-rights
Ben Carson’s words are haunting him today after dropping jaws during his Monday night Q&A on Facebook. Carson said “I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away.”
According to Daily KOS.com on October 6, Carson started off by saying that as a doctor he had spent many nights extractingbullets out of bodies. He also said that “there is no doubt that this senseless violence is breathtaking, but”… and that is where his jaw dropping sentence came in.
Carson hosted his Q&A on Facebook Monday night where he took questions from the people writing in. He fields the questions and picks a few to respond to each night. Monday night the Second Amendment rights came up and it looks as if he may have some explaining to do over his answer.
The man who offered up the question simply wanted to know if the tragedy in Oregon this week has altered his views as a supporter of the Second Amendment Rights. This is when he made the jaw-dropping comment that “I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away.” Carson has been very adamant this week that guns don’t kill, people do.
Carson has made other remarks about the shooting that didn’t pan-out well across a wide spectrum of folks. Tuesday on Fox News live Carson said that he wouldn’t just stand there and let the gunman shoot him. He said victims should not be timid during attacks, according to The New York Times today.
Carson told Fox News, that he would say, “Hey, guys, everybody attack him! He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all. Carson, like many other of the politicians today are struggling while trying to find the middle ground when offering sympathy around these horrific shootings, like the one recently in Oregon, while still holding strong on his views on the right to own a gun. He may have missed the mark with his latest comments.
