Final day of campaigning underway across Turkey ahead of snap general elections – YouTube
A final day of campaigning is underway across Turkey as the country prepares for snap general elections.
Prime
Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who leads the ruling AK party, has mounted a
final push for votes by trying to weaken the opposition.
Meanwhile, the
leader of the opposition Republican People’s Party, CHP, has also used
rallies to call for efforts to change the fate of Turkey. The CHP leader
has urged all people to take part in the vote, saying they mustn’t
leave Turkey to politicians who only consider their own interests.
Also,
the leader of the pro-Kurdish HDP party says the vote is a crossroads
between what he calls oppression and democracy. Turkish nationals will
be voting for a new government on Sunday to determine the political
future of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose Justice and Development
Party lost the upper hand in the parliament in June.
