Obama Hates Oil and Democrats
…Well, that’s largely speculation, but that speculation is based almost entirely on his compulsion to screw them over in post-Obama elections. Take, for example, this declaration:
The Obama administration has formally threatened a veto on a House bill that would lift the federal ban on crude oil exports.
In a statement of administration policy, the Office of Management and Budget said that “legislation to remove crude export restrictions is not needed at this time.”
“Rather, Congress should be focusing its efforts on supporting our transition to a low-carbon economy,” the statement said. It added that instead of pushing crude oil exports, Congress should focus on “supporting our transition to a low-carbon economy.”
Coming from Louisiana, a state that is a producer of energy, allow me to explain why this is an outright act of hostility toward the Democratic Party: Former Senator Mary Landrieu would likely still have her job were it not for a lack of action on the Keystone XL Pipeline.
I’ve been told the House has the numbers to override the veto, and that the Senate is close, and the talk around the water cooler is that the president wants to get something out of this bill. The Republican Party’s leadership would do well right now to tell him “No” in a very forceful way, and then override his veto and carry on.
And the Democrats are sure to realize the trouble with the president’s hostility toward traditional energy, given Senator Landrieu and other victims of his policies. I mean, sure the losses wouldn’t be that great. After all, you only risk losing Colorado, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio (that’s a total of four U.S. Senators and 52 electoral votes), and in return for those losses you get investments in alternative energies and companies much like Solyndra.
