Belgian PM: Alert level raised to highest based on info about possible attacks – YouTube
Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel says the decision to raise the terror threat level to its highest in the capital Brussels was linked to an imminent threat.
Michel said precise information was available about the risk of attacks such as those carried out in Paris last week. He urged the citizens to remain calm, adding that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure their security. The alert level was raised to four, after a meeting of top ministers, police and security services. Authorities have beefed up security, shut down the metro and postponed soccer matches. Citizens have also been warned to avoid crowds as a gunman is still at large following the Paris terror attacks.
