Afghanistan’s Helmand province may fall to Taliban – YouTube
Reports coming out of southern Afghanistan say Helmand province is on the verge of falling to Taliban militants.
Local sources say around 90 Afghan soldiers have been killed during two days of intense clashes with the Taliban. The deputy governor of Helmand has asked President Ashraf Ghani to immediately deploy reinforcements to the region as militants are said to be advancing in several areas. A similar situation in September led to a brief fall of the northern city of Kunduz. The resurgence of the Taliban follows the presence of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan for over a decade under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
