Spanish PM offers coalition dialogue – YouTube
Spain’s embattled Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has offered a dialogue with other political groupings to form a coalition to avoid early elections.
Rajoy said his party has the responsibility to launch a process of dialogue to offer certainty within and outside the country. He, however, cautioned that he would reach out only to parties defending the unity of Spain or its European commitments. Rajoy made the comments in his first press briefing since Sunday polls that saw his conservative party losing its parliamentary majority. Meanwhile, the leaders of two major left wing parties have said they will vote against a new government of the ruling People’s Party even if it manages to form a coalition government.
