Two Afghan Pilots Are Missing in Georgia
A couple of Afghan pilots have gone missing in Georgia, and authorities are looking for them, according to a press release from the United States Air Force. The pair are part of a training program, but did not show up for their regular maintenance training, and are now being sought. However, the USAF says the pair do not pose any immediate threat:
Two male Afghan air force students did not report for duty yesterday at their regular maintenance training at Moody AFB in Valdosta, Georgia. Both are assigned to the 81st Fighter Squadron. They have been at Moody since. February 2015 and were screened prior to their arrival in the United States more than a year ago. The students have trained alongside American counterparts for the entirety of 2015 and do not pose any apparent threat. There is a well-coordinated process among federal agencies to locate the individuals as quickly as possible and return them accordingly to the proper authorities to manage their present situation.

The incident isn’t the first time Afghan military personal have disappeared while in the U.S. for training. In 2012, three senior Afghan national army officers disappeared while at Joint Base Cape Cod. The men were later discovered and detained after trying to cross over the Canadian border. Also in 2012, two Afghan policemen in Washington, D.C. for training disappeared during a sightseeing trip. They were later found by officials at an undisclosed location.
So, is this a backdoor illegal immigration operation… or something worse?
