After the prominent American linguist and philosopher, Noam Chomsky called the PKK “Freedom Fighters of Kurdistan” and called on Erdogan to end the Turkish occupation of North Kurdistan, end the killing of Kurdish Civlian, and end Turkish support for ISIS (Islamic State) and other Islamist Groups, yesterday, the Turkish President accused Noam Chomsky of being a terrorist and should be brought to trail in Turkish court. Responding to Erdogan’s comment, Noam Chomsky says:

“Turkey is blaming ISIS (for the bomb attack in Sultanahmet), an organisation that Erdoğan has supported in many ways, and supporting the Al-Nusra Front, a group not so different from ISIS. And Erdoğan is blaming the people (academics) condemning his crimes against the Kurdish people, the main force fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Is saying anything else necessary?”

Speaking at the 8th Ambassadors Conference yesterday, president Erdoğan slammed over 1000 academics who had signed a statement condemning the curfews, human rights abuses and state violence in North Kurdistan (E/SE Turkey). Erdoğan called the academics from Turkey “traitors” and invited Noam Chomsky to Turkey to “see the situation with his own eyes.”
