As incredible as it may sound, the US Ambassador to Israel, Thomas Pickering, pitched a plan to Hillary Clinton to use UN and Non-governmental organizations to foment riots in Israel as a way of forcing Israel to agree to concessions to the Palestinians.

In the aftermath of the fall of Egypt and Libya, the State department thought it had stumbled upon the perfect weapon to be used against dictators: street riots (you must break eggs to make omelets, n’est-ce pas), insurrection, and the a few US airstrikes. When it became clear that the future and the territorial integrity of Israel meant more to Benjamin Netanyahu that international acclaim given to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, it was only natural that they consider him an enemy and try to unleash the same strategy on him. Via The Washington Free Beacon:

Pickering described the effort as a potential “game changer in the region,” recommending that the United States undertake a clandestine campaign to generate unrest. Clinton requested that his email be printed.

“What will change the situation is a major effort to use non-violent protests and demonstrations to put peace back in the center of people’s aspirations as well as their thoughts, and use that to influence the political leadership,” Pickering wrote.

“This is far from a sure thing, but far, in my humble view, from hopeless,” he continued. “Women can and ought to be at the center of these demonstrations. Many men and others will denigrate the idea. I don’t and I don’t think that was your message.”

Palestinian women, he noted, are less likely than men to resort to violence.

“It must be all and only women. Why? On the Palestinian side the male culture is to use force,” Pickering wrote, comparing the effort to the protests in Egypt that deposed former leader Hosni Mubarak. “Palestinian men will not for long patiently demonstrate — they will be inclined over time and much too soon to be frustrated and use force. Their male culture comes close to requiring it.”

If you read the email you will see it is as much egregious ass-kissing and unseemly fawning on the part of Pickering to his boss as anything else:

In short, he’s afraid to provoke a war but he’s willing to settle for the alternative, fomenting riots that would inevitably be turned into violence by the Palestinian authority, and result in dead civilians in the streets… with a lot of women and children among them for the shock value.

It gets better. Pickering knows what he is advocating is essentially an act of war against a US ally using a known sponsor of terrorism as his instrument:

What is striking is the nonchalant way Pickering discusses letting the genie of Palestinian street riots out of the bottle with no consideration on what could go bad or how he could control them or even how to channel them in a productive direction.

You can read the whole sordid, duplicitous email here.

Pickering wasn’t the only person at State attempting to undercut Israel:

As relations with Israel remained tense, another Clinton confidant, Anne Marie Slaughter, sent a staff-wide email to Clinton staffers recommending that they undertake a “Pledge for Palestine” campaign aimed at convincing U.S. millionaires and billionaires to donate significant portions of their wealth to the Palestinian cause.

The effort, Slaughter wrote in the September 2010 email, could help shame Israel.

“Such a campaign among billionaires/multi-millionaires around the world would reflect a strong vote of confidence in the building of a Palestinian state and could offset the ending of the moratorium for Palestinians,” Slaughter wrote. “There would also be a certain shaming effect re Israelis, who would be building settlements in the face of a pledge for peace.”

Slaughter, who described the effort as a “crazy idea,” suggested tapping the “Clinton fundraising network” in order to raise the money needed.

“With even 30 calls to the right people in the Clinton fundraising network it should be possible to generate a substantial enough amount quickly enough to capture the public imagination,” she wrote in the email, which was sent to top Clinton staffers, including Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin.

This is just another minuscule view of the epic failure that was Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State. She kowtowed to our enemies, created a humanitarian disaster, lied to the nation repeatedly, used her influence to further her own financial interests, and waged war upon our allies.

*****

There are a lot more Obama and Clinton epic f***-ups chronicled in my archive.

  • The whole article is a fraud. The atrocious english of the writer is continued exactly in the so-called “quotes”. If they were genuine the grammar would be much better. Certainly one of the most basic requirements for ANY governmental position is an effective command of the english language.. or any other language one might be required to speak. Furthemore the grammatical errors in the quotes are EXACTLY the same ones as in the main body of the article. This is pretty convincing evidence that thequotes were simpluy made up. IMHO…
