White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Friday that he sees no reason for Democrats to find an alternative presidential candidate in case Hillary Clinton is indicted over her mishandling of classified material on her private email server. “That’s not something I’m worried about,” Earnest said. Earnest also tried to push back against predictions that Hillary will be indicted for her email fiasco. Earnest also said the FBI investigation, “Doesn’t seem to be headed in that direction.”

But California Congressman Darrell Issa, who led an investigation into Benghazi when he was chairman of the House Oversight Committee, says the FBI “would like to indict both Huma [Abedin] and Hillary Clinton.” Issa suggests Hillary’s wrongdoing is obvious:

You can’t have 1,300 highly sensitive emails that contain highly sensitive material that’s taken all, or in part from classified documents, and have it be an accident. There’s no question, she knew she had a responsibility and she circumvented it. And she circumvented it a second time when she knowingly let highly-classified material get onto emails in an unclassified format.

In the following video Mark Halperin reports that the FBI will likely interview Clinton:

Halperin: Yeah, well, there are three things people are keying off of.
There’s a lot of chatter amongst FBI agents, many of whom have never been big fans of the Clintons, but a lot of FBI agents seem to be saying something is happening here.
Second is, from a legal point of view, you look at some of the recent developments we’ve talked about here on the program, it’s hard to see how the Justice Department, the FBI, doesn’t want to interview Secretary Clinton. And that interview alone, short of an indictment, short of anything else, that would be a huge political development and would undermine confidence in some Democrats in the notion of going forward with Secretary Clinton.
And the last thing is, there are some people in the White House are starting to talk about this. It’s not clear whether they know what’s happening or it’s just their intuition but the body language among some Obama administration officials is, this is more serious and something is going to happen. Again, the timing of it could be if not cataclysmic pretty bad for Secretary Clinton if Senator Sanders is still alive.

It doesn’t matter whether Sanders is still in the race or not. An indictment or even an FBI interview would rupture the bag of hot air that is the Hillary presidential campaign.
