Footage shows US sailors detained by Iran’s naval forces – YouTube
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has released the ten American sailors, apprehended after entering the Iranian territorial waters on two combat vessels. IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadawi says the Americans were arrested near Iran’s Farsi Island, being unaware that they were in Iranian territorial waters. He said the sailors were released in international waters after it became clear that their trespassing had been unintentional. The IRGC commander noted that before their release, the sailors pledged not to repeat such mistakes. Earlier, the IRGC announced that a technical failure in the U-S vessels’ navigation system was to blame for the sailors’ encroachment upon Iran’s waters.
