Spanish government coalition talks fail – YouTube
Spain plunges deeper into political uncertainty after two political parties, including king-makers Podemos, hit a deadlock in talks aimed at forming a government.
The setback comes after Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias announced he would not negotiate with the Socialists who have recently been tasked with forming a government. The disagreement comes after Pedro Sanchez; the leader of the socialists rejected an ultimatum by Podemos to cancel talks with another party. Spain descended into political uncertainty after the elections last year put an end to the long-established two-party conservative socialist system. Acting Prime Minister Rajoy won that election; but without an absolute majority. After failing to form a coalition, Rajoy gave up and the king of Spain decided to nominate Sanchez as candidate for prime minister.
