Gun Groups Give Up Fighting After Scalia’s Passing

(Before It's News)

Fellow Conservative,

I just read something truly saddening. Gun rights groups have actually started withdrawing their 2nd Amendment lawsuits out of fear that a Supreme Court without Scalia could use their case to make gun control the law of the land.

Let me explain…

We all remember the NY SAFE Act. This was the law pushed through in the wake of Sandy Hook that turned tens of thousands of gun owners into felons almost overnight.

The NY Rifle and Pistol Association has been fighting this law at every opportunity. They even won some of the fights. A court ruled that the state’s law banning magazines with a capacity higher than SEVEN was unconstitutional. But with Justice Scalia’s passing and the fact that the 4-4 court could easily solidify the law or rule on the premise nationwide, the NY Rifle and Pistol Association has decided to cease all court fights.

The President of the group told a local paper that it was just “not the right time” to move the cases forward.

It is sad that we have reached a point where organizations are now giving up on the fight to restore 2nd Amendment rights. But it just proves now, more than ever, we need serious Congressional action!

Congress has the power to intervene! Please send your FaxBlasts and DEMAND that Congress put a stop to the left’s plan to turn gun owners into felons!

The gun control organizations are licking their lips right now. They see that gun rights groups are fearful of a Liberal Supreme Court so they are launching a new nationwide gun control push!

The gun grabbers know that the Supreme Court won’t intervene in the matter without Scalia and if the case eventually does make it to the top, the Liberal justices will likely rule in their favor.

So, they are pushing gun bans and magazine bands at the local level. They are introducing laws to increase the number of crimes that can disqualify someone from owning a gun. They want a simple misdemeanor to be enough to disarm American gun owners. They are also pushing for laws that criminalize concealed carriers.

And they now know that many of the strongest pro-gun groups are not going to stand in their way. You can’t blame them. If a group like the NY Rifle and Pistol Association appeals their case to the Supreme Court and the liberal Justices decide that assault weapons bans are perfectly Constitutional, you will see these types of bans pop up nationwide. These groups are making a perfectly logical decision.

But just because we have lost the Supreme Court doesn’t mean that we should be giving up entirely. Congress still has the power to intervene and put a stop to these heinous gun control pushes!

During George W Bush’s Presidency, Congress passed the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, a measure that overrode state laws and forced them to accept concealed carry permits from retired police officers, regardless of whether there was a reciprocity agreement in place. This law proves that Congress has the authority to supersede state law in the interest of public safety. They could pass the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act immediately and be on firm Constitutional ground.

There are also numerous bills stuck in committee that would repeal many of the federal gun laws that make it easier for states and municipalities to infringe on their citizens' rights.

You MUST demand that Congress take up the torch where Justice Scalia left off! FaxBlast Congress and force them to put a stop to all gun bans nationwide!

Sincerely,

Joe Otto
