(Before It's News)

Che_Guevara_PortraitChe Guevara was a Marxist guerrilla, communist and murderer who led the Cuban revolution along with Fidel Castro, overthrowing Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista and plunging Cuba into decades of harsh, communist rule.  Since January 1, 1959 when Batista fled Cuba, Fidel Castro and his brother Raul have driven millions into exile, kept their country in political and economic chains and imprisoned, tortured and executed thousands of people.  As soon as Fidel Castro seized power along with Guevara, they began conducting mass executions inside two Cuban prisons.  The body count is unknown, but Guevara himself admitted to ordering the executions of thousands of Cubans during the first year alone.  Some who survived their prison sentences later told of Guevara frequently murdering the condemned himself by shooting them in the head with his pistol.

Guevara was a cold-blooded killer who enjoyed murdering.  He wrote to his father and said, “I really like killing.”  He once fired his gun into the belly of a woman who was six months pregnant because her family opposed him.

After the Cuban revolution, Guevara took his guerrilla show on the road, offering his experience and knowledge to communists in the Congo.  In 1967 he was in Bolivia attempting to overthrow another government and replace it with a communist state when he was captured and executed by the Bolivian army.

Che Guevara was freedom’s enemy, but since his death the left and the media have distorted the truth about him and transformed his murderous brutality into a fight for freedom.  Guevara himself realized the importance of disinformation, writing in his diary in 1958 that, “Much more valuable than rural recruits for our guerrilla force were American media recruits to export our propaganda.”

So why the leftist fascination with a long-dead, Cuban, Marxist murderer?  Why does his picture appear on countless products, such as t-shirts, posters and CD cases?

Humberto Fontova, author of the book Exposing the Real Che Guevara: And the Useful Idiots Who Idolize Him has a theory.

CNSNews.com Cybercast News Service: Why are so many people in the U.S. media and in academia so enthralled with Che Guevara and apparently so willing to repeat myths and distort facts about him?

Humberto Fontova: The whole thing starts with the cachet, the coolness surrounding the Cuban revolution. At the time, the United States was the biggest fuddy-duddy, Leave-it-to-Beaver country in the world. Then, all of a sudden, you had these long-haired revolutionaries down in Cuba – they were the first hippies, the first beatniks. Look at Che Guevara in those years. Take off the beard and you’ve got Jim Morrison. Raul Castro used to carry his shoulder-length blond hair in a ponytail. Camilo Cienfuegos looked like another Jerry Garcia. There was that coolness cachet, plus all the misconceptions about what Cuba was like prior to these guys.

The truth is that Che Guevara did help free Cubans from the dictator Batista’s regime, but afterward the Cuban people found themselves enslaved in a totalitarian state that was far worse than the last.

The left idolizes Guevara because they see him as an anti-establishment martyr.  They have always been enthralled with demagogues, as rational arguments are counterintuitive to liberal ideology.  Guevara is a leftist icon because he put bullets into the heads of his enemies.  The American left wishes they had their own Che Guevara, dispensing their brand of social justice and ridding society of capitalists and conservatives; those whom the left sees as the root cause of all oppression and injustice.

Liberals admire Guevara, but oh, how amusing it is to see the college nitwits sporting their Che t-shirts as they rally for Bernie Sanders.  Their ignorant hypocrisy is priceless.  Their t-shirts and other products emblazoned with the face of their icon were all purchased.  Yes, these Che-loving leftists were participating in capitalism, a system regarded with contempt by Guevara.  Oh, the irony of Che worshipers spending money to get products with his image!

It should not be surprising that liberals extol Che Guevara.  He did what they dream of doing.  He and Castro overthrew the government, installed communism in Cuba and began murdering their opponents.  It’s no wonder that the Castro brothers have been able to hold onto power for going on six decades now.  Everyone who opposed them is dead, in prison or in exile.

It should also not be surprising that President Obama traveled to Cuba and stood for photos in front of a Che Guevara mural.  Most people do like to pose for photos in front of monuments to their heroes.  Perhaps he’s ignorant of the fact that Guevara was also a racist who considered blacks to be inferior to whites.

Leftist worship of Che Guevara is about a dream.  Not a dream like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr had, but a dream where the political opposition is in chains or dead and Marxists have total control over the country and the population.  There are those among the left who would love to do that here in the United States.  Should they ever pull it off, all you college nitwits can say goodbye to your snazzy Che t-shirts.
