At this point anyone who thinks Ben Carson is anything but totally bought-and-paid-for by Donald Trump is totally delusional.

From and interview yesterday with Andrea Mitchell:

Let me say upfront, the fact that Ben Carson is able to make Andrea Mitchell appear to be sane, rational, and totally unbiased is quite an accomplishment. Well played, Doctor.

TRANSCRIPT

MITCHELL: The Republican party, as is the Democratic party, is a private organization and so what their rules are, are set by them. Sean Spicer, the communications director for the RNC, wrote in his message, “The rules surrounding the delegate selection have been clearly laid out in every state and territory and while each state is different, each process is easy to understand for those willing to learn it.” Donald Trump as a P.S. is unspoken.

CARSON: Yeah, well, you know during the Jim Crow era those were the rules, too. They were written and everybody knew about them. Didn’t make them right. But I’m not saying this is the same. But, you know, I think you get the point. Just because rules are there, just because they’re written by somebody, doesn’t mean they are right, doesn’t mean you can’t review the system.

Mitchell is entirely right. The GOP, like the Democrats, is a private entity. It is a political party. It is not part of the government. Each state party is fairly autonomous and works within broad boundaries. The general public has no say in how the GOP goes about selecting its candidate. The difference between Jim Crow — which was a legal regime binding on everyone and used the force of law to ensure compliance — and the nominating rules of a political party are so vast that you have to be a freakin no-forehead cretin or a shameless liar to blend the two together.

Donald Trump is not a Republican. He is the worst sort of carpetbagger that has brought smaller carpetbaggers into the GOP nominating process. The real people who have been disenfranchised are Republican voters in states that Donald Trump won all of the delegates despite receiving a minority of the votes and he did it by bringing in Democrats and independents.
