Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is suddenly floundering. Where is the Trump that said he could get away with shooting someone? Now Trump is flip flopping like crazy and for the first time it seems to be causing him problems.
It’s been a horrific week during which Trump tried to spill the beans on Mrs. Cruz by tweeting an unflattering picture of her. He Unsuccessfully tried to blame Sen. Ted Cruz for the ad using a nude photo of Trump’s wife from her infamous British GQ photo shoot done on the Donald’s Boeing 727. He Revealed his lack of understanding of the Constitutional roll of the federal government. He Admitted he will never release his tax returns. He Said Japan, South Korea and Saudi Arabia should be allowed to have nuclear weapons. And even said Women should be punished for having abortions. That’s a lot of gaffes for one week, even for the Donald.
For the first time Trump seems like a regular candidate and is paying a price for gaffe after gaffe after gaffe. He has changed his abortion position three times. and his aides are still trying to explain his latest one. On Wednesday Trump said women who have “some form of punishment.” Several hours later he walked back his remarks stating that women who obtain abortions are victims and that doctors who perform the service are the ones who should be punished. On Friday Trump again reversed his position on abortion saying “At this moment the laws are set. And I think we have to leave it that way.” His spokeswoman tried to clarify that saying Trump was giving “an accurate account of the law as it is today and made clear it must stay that way now — until he is president. Then he will change the law through his judicial appointments and allow the states to protect the unborn.”
And Trump finally admitted making a mistake. The Donald admitted to Maureen Dowd that tweeting the picture of Mrs. Cruz was a “mistake.” He even said the his campaign manager should have apologized for the Michelle Fields incident which lead to Fields to leave her job.
