Syria in Last 24 Hours: ISIL, Al-Nusra Front Terrorists Sustain Heavy Losses in Aleppo Province

The Syrian army pounded the military positions and gathering centers of the Takfiri terrorists in Aleppo province, inflicting heavy losses on them.

The army units also continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Deir Ezzur and Homs, over past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in Syria’s key provinces.

Aleppo

The Syrian army killed a notorious ISIL Takfiri terrorist commander with Tajik nationality in heavy clashes in Aleppo on Friday.

Anushravan Azimov, nom de guerre Anas, was killed in a Syrian army offensive near the city of Aleppo in Northern Syria today.

Azimov is known for persuading over 100 Tajik young people to joint the ISIL in Syria and Iraq.

In a relevant development earlier on Friday, the Syrian Army troops and popular forces, in a fresh round of joint offensives, left no safe place for the terrorists of al-Nusra and ISIL in the Western, Northern and Central parts of Aleppo province.

The pro-government forces stormed the positions of al-Nusra Front near the villages of al-Mansourah, Hazma and Kafr Hamra in the Western part of Aleppo province, which claimed the lives of tens of the terrorists.

Al-Nusra Front’s centers in al-Rashedeen neighborhood came under the heavy fire of the Syrian army.

The government force, meantime, hit the ISIL strongholds hard near the village of Fafin in the Northeastern part of the province, which ended in the destruction of the terrorists’ military hardware.

In the Southern part of Aleppo province, the Syrian Army troops and popular forces continued to target the gatherings of al-Nusra Front, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists.

The Syrian soldiers and the National Defense Forces targeted the sites and centers of the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front near the villages of Tal Hediyeh and al-Barqoum, the regions of Abu Shleim and al-Hadabeh al-Khadhra and in surroundings of the towns of Khan Touman and al-Hadher in the Southern battlefield of the province, which ended in the killing or wounding of scores of the terrorists.

Al-Nusra’s military vehicles, including the machinegun-equipped ones, were destroyed in the army attacks in large scale.

The Russian and Syrian warplanes, in a fresh round of joint combat flights, bombed the ISIL concentration centers and gatherings in the Eastern part of Aleppo province, inflicting a heavy death toll on the militants.

At least 40 ISIL members were killed and many more were wounded in the joint airstrikes of the Syrian and Russian jets in Maskana plains in the Eastern part of Aleppo province bordering the Western part of Raqqa province.

In addition to their airstrikes over the Maskanah plains, the Russian Air Force targeted the ISIL strongholds in Deir Hafer and al-Bab, killing a large number of terrorist there.

Raqqa

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) stormed the ISIL concentration centers in the Northern part of Raqqa province near the border with Turkey and slowed down the terrorists’ logistic and military movements in the region.

The SDF fighters’ anti-ISIL operation near the village of al-Haba’a in the Southern side to Tal Abyadh, ended in the killing or wounding of several terrorists.

The ISIL’s military vehicles sustained major damage in the Kurdish fighters’ attacks and the terrorist group’s logistic movements were slowed down.

The SDF Kurds have recently bonded with the Damascus government.

The SDF that is comprised of mainly Kurdish fighters as well as a few hundred Syrian Arab dissident forces have received trainings from the US and have been provided with scanty US-coalition air support in their battles in Raqqa province in Northeastern Syria; but in Northern and Northwestern battlefronts, they have been operating alongside the Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) and received the Russian air backup in their Aleppo wars that started with the conquest of Tishrin Dam on the Euphrates early in February.

Dara’a

The ISIL terrorists, in a fresh round of large-scale attacks, stormed the strongholds of al-Nusra Front in the Western part of Dara’a province and pushed their rivals back from vast areas.

The al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front suffered major fatalities and their military hardware sustain serious damage in the ISIL non-stop assaults.

The ISIL retook control over Sahm al-Joulan Dam, Hajez al-A’alan and the regions the groups had lost during the recent days’ battle with the al-Nusra.

The Syrian Army fended off al-Nusra Front’s assaults to prevail over the government forces’ military posts in the Northern part of Dara’a province, battlefield sources said, adding the terrorists suffered heavy casualties in their unsuccessful attacks.

“The Syrian soldiers and popular forces opened heavy fire at the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front members, repelled their attacks and forced them to retreat forces from the surrounding of Gherbet Ghazaleh,” the sources said.

“Al-Nusra terrorists, surprised by the very heavy fire of the government forces, pulled the remaining pockets of forces back to evade more casualties,” they further added.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Ground and Air Forces carried out several combat operations against the ISIL terrorists’ positions in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur to decrease the group’s logistic and military abilities.

The Syrian Army troops stormed the ISIL positions in the districts of al-Sina’ah and al-Ummal, which ended in the mass destruction of the terrorists’ weapons and ammunition. The Syrian fighter jets, for their part, carried out combat flights over the ISIL bases near al-Kassarat region and Baqjaji farm in the Southern part of the province and targeted them heavily.

The ISIL suffered major casualties in the airstrikes.

Meantime, military sources announced that the Syrian Army troops have shot down a drone of the ISIL terrorists that were spying on the government forces’ positions in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur.

“The Syrian army’s 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard shot down another reconnaissance drone of the ISIL in the Deir Ezzur province,” the sources said.

“The army shot down the drone over al-Sina’ah district near the city of Deir Ezzur,” they further added.

Hama

One of the notorious field commanders of the Al-Nusra Front terrorist group in Hama battlefields was killed in heavy fighting with the Syrian Army troops, military sources said minutes ago.

“A senior commander of al-Nusra in Atshan region, nicknamed Abu Moussa, was killed in the Syrian Army’s operation in the Northern part of Hama province,” sources said.

Earlier reports said that the Syrian Army, backed up by the country’s fighter jets, repelled the terrorist group’s attacks to break through the government forces’ strongholds in the Northern part of Hama province, killing at least 28 militants.

The terrorists of al-Nusra Front and Jund al-Aqsa stormed the government force’s lines of defense near Ma’an, but the strong defense of the Syrian soldiers foiled their attempts.

The terrorist groups left behind at least 28 members dead and many more wounded and pulled back the remaining pockets of their forces from the battlefront.

Homs

The Syrian Army’s aircraft targeted the ISIL positions and military vehicles in the Eastern part of Homs province, inflicting major losses on the terrorist group’s military equipment.

The Syrian fighter jets tracked and targeted a long convoy of the ISIL carrying ammunition and fresh forces to the Northern and Eastern territories of the recently-liberated city of Palmyra (Tadmur), which ended in destruction of most of the vehicles and the killing or wounding of several guards of the military column.

Sweida

The Syrian Army troops opened heavy fire at a column of the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front’s vehicles in the Southern province of Sweida, inflicting major damage on the convoy.

Several military and supplying vehicles of the terrorist group, carrying fresh recruits, ammunition and foodstuff, were destroyed and a number of the terrorists were killed in the Syrian army’s attack near al-Sheikh Hussein and Khleif hills.
