Imagine Socrates still has relevance today.
There is plenty of kindling around, under employed and struggling graduates with huge student loans and high cost of living in areas that offer some hope of employment.
It is fact! The young are disenfranchised, and they are educated. Perfect conditions for Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. Many of them feel like they have nothing to lose, they played “The Game” to discover that their degrees are irrelevant or that they need an advanced degree to attain the same poisiton that used to require an under graduate degree. The yard stick has been moved and continues to be moved.
The other candidates must address the issue before the young are “fully” invested in just one individual. They need to see some other options.
Since so many families have children returning to their homes, someone should consider a tax relief/credit system to assist families. Imagine a positive tax change that would help and incent people! People Helping People!
Many families at this stage would have decreasing costs but now are facing increased costs. The graduate students do not make sufficient income to pay rent plus pay student loans from jobs that are considered full time and pay poorly.
Tremendous good will would be generated by bringing the two groups together by recognizing the shared issue and addressing it in an honest and forthright manner.
Everyone continues to address just the young caught up in this dilema, however there are “others” that vote as well and also are impacted.
How about some recognition and attention to us, those that are stepping up to assist graduates, whether related or not because they need help.
We are doing so because we do not want to witness “A Lost Generation!”
