PAULA FARIS: And Secretary, I want to ask you about some comments that you made over the weekend on Meet the Press regarding abortion. You said, quote, “the unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.” My question is at what point does someone have constitutional rights, and are you saying that a child, on its due date, just hours before delivery still has no constitutional rights?
HILLARY CLINTON: Under our law, that is the case.
She went on to say she supported Roe V. Wade making that the law of the land.
Obama wants to grant Disability Benefits to Illegals
Through Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, President Barack Obama is telling the Supreme Court exactly this right now.
The solicitor general calls what Obama is doing “prosecutorial discretion.”
He argues that under this particular type of “prosecutorial discretion,” the executive can make millions of people in this country illegally eligible for Social Security, disability and Medicare.
Once again the president is attempting to play the amnesty card and this time it’s a super amnesty card. Just who’s social security account are these benefits going to be drawn from ? Are people who have already been victims of identity theft going to be hit again ? A majority of the states are opposing this, but it’s up before a shorthanded supreme court. We can only hope for the best here.
Obama Administration Bypasses Congress Once Again, Restarts Civil Asset Forfeiture Program
Just when you thought it was safe to own property again, Obama has found a way to start ignoring the fifth amendment again.
The “Equitable Sharing Program” gives police the option of prosecuting some asset forfeiture cases under federal instead of state law, particularly in instances where local law enforcement officers have a relationship with federal authorities as part of a joint task force. Federal forfeiture policies are more permissive than many state policies, allowing police to keep up to 80 percent of assets they seize.
The Justice Department had suspended payments under this program in December, due to budget cuts included in last year’s spending bill.
I applauded congress standing up against this unconstitutional taking of property by the executive branch. I hope they do the same now that the executive has decided to deprive them of the power of the purse. Is anyone keeping a count on just how many times and how many ways Obama is violating the constitution ?
In contrast to the president, Florida Governor Rick Scott, signed a bill making civil asset forfeiture actually require due process.
“The notion that police officers can take cash or other property from people never charged with any criminal wrongdoing and keeping any profits from the sale of seized property doesn’t sit well with the public,” he said. “Voters want action on civil asset forfeiture and it was smart politics for Gov. Scott to sign on this.”
